Coaching From a Faith-Based Leader's Perspective Program Description: CFLP is offered by The Barnabas Team, LLLP, in collaboration with CCE’s BCC Faith-Based Initiative to foster, promote, and advance the BCC credential to clergy and spiritual leaders; and Dr. William H. Curtis. CFLP achieves BCC core competencies by emphasizing (1) Ethical and Professional Standards, (2) Agreements and Goal-Setting, (3) Coach Presence and Applied Skills, (4) Effective Coach–Client Communication and Rapport, (5) Facilitating Client Growth and Accountability, and (6) Coaching Business Practices and Professional Development.
The program is designed to train and enable leaders to offer coaching services as part of their ministry, community, and beyond. CFLP consists of in-person and online (virtual) sessions, requiring qualified participants to complete at least thirty (30) hours of training, including a minimum of 15 hours of in-person training and 15 hours of online training. The ideal learning format is based on the following training schedule:
Purchase the required text books and complete training modules 1 and 2 on the online training platform (approximately 4 hours).
Attend the two-day BCC Bootcamp (in-person) session (15 hours).
Complete the remaining modules on the online learning platform (approximately 11 hours) within 60 days of completing the in-person Bootcamp session.
Complete BCC application and examination process through the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE).
Learning occurs through in person "bootcamp" practicums, assigned reading from texts and other materials, videos, practice activities, personal reflection and a multiple-choice exam with a required passing score of 70%. Students need regular internet access to complete the course. Participants must complete the full 30-hour training program within 60 days of finishing the BCC Bootcamp (in-person) training.
Coaching From a Faith-Based Leader's Perspective (Course 401) Objectives: Upon completion of the course, students should:
1. Conduct thorough screening and orientation through a foundational understanding of client motivation level, informed consent, coach and client roles, and general parameters for establishing the coaching process from a faith-based leader's perspective.
2. Understand and perform fundamental coaching skills, such as the coaching alliance, helping skills, developing coaching plans, and other essential elements of the coaching process.
3. Implement ethical and professional practices through demonstrated understanding of codes of ethics, advocacy, continuing education, and personal barriers to the coaching process.
4. Assess coaching goals, client strengths, and specific issues concerning the coaching process.
5. Facilitate and monitor the individual client’s progress toward desired goals, decision making, and use of resources.
6. Understand organizational roles, the change process, mentoring, and conflict management related to the coaching process for businesses and organizations.

Required Assignments and Grade Determination:
Chapter Reading: Students will complete all assignments for each unit and learning module from the required texts, assigned videos, learning materials and select articles assigned as additional reading material.
In Person Bootcamp Practicums: Students will participate in BCC Bootcamp practicums for 15-hours of in-person training.
Practice Coaching Activities, Discussion Forum and Reflection Exercises: Students will participate in practice coaching activities, online discussion topics and/or reflection exercises for each learning module. Portions of some practice coaching activities will be uploaded to the learning platform or submitted through another online format.
Exam: There will be an exam over the assigned reading, online discussions, reflections and practice coaching activities at the end of the course. The exam will include multiple choice and true/false questions.
The only grade given for this course will be via the end-of-course exam. It is graded as a “pass/fail” exam. While no other grades will be given, regular attendance and participation are expected through the online discussions and completion of all assignments and learning activities.
Grading Scale: Grades are calculated on a “points possible” basis. The number of points earned is divided by the number possible. The following scale is used to determine letter grades:
70 – 100 Pass
69 and Below Fail
Scores for multiple choice and true/false exam will be available immediately following completion of the exam. To facilitate learning, candidates may take the assessment up to 3 times. If needed, retest attempts may be completed by returning to the testing platform as soon as the candidate is ready. (In the unlikely event that a candidate is unsuccessful after 3 test attempts, please contact the coach trainer to discuss or schedule an individual coach training review program covering specific content areas in need of improvement.)
Attendance Policy: Regular and punctual attendance is required for Bootcamp (in-person) training session. Online attendance and participation are established by posting in the discussion forums and completing all assignments and activities.

Students can usually expect a returned email response from the instructor within 24 hours during Monday through Friday. If a phone conversation is preferred, please email the instructor and provide your phone number and several “best times” for the conversation. The instructor will always confirm the number and time via email before calling you.
Training Time and Extensions: The course is designed to be completed within sixty days after the date of the BCC Bootcamp practicum. If you are unable to complete the course within 60-days for good cause (work conflict, illness, death in the family, serious accident, etc.), and have regularly participated through course attendance up until the time of submitting the petition, a “Request for Extension” may be submitted via email.
Grievance Procedures: We appreciate the opportunity to be your training provider and strive to ensure that you are satisfied with our training programs. Please put your concern in writing and send by email addressed to BCCbootcamp@thebarnabasteam.com with ASSISTANCE NEEDED referenced in the subject line for review by the training program director and staff.
